I feel that the question is well stated and involved a lot of factores and lenses which will be easily researched. There is a whole trend and variety of articles which talk about the disappearing effect on the middle class of the united States. It i very interesting to research about this topic, I was assigned to research the historical lens of the topic. So far, I have researched a lot of things that are extremely interesting for me, the history of how the middle class has come to shape throughout the years is incredible. I am looking forward to investigating the issue.
Last semester, I really did not feel as comfortable and positive about my research question as I do now. This question has room for debate because there is a lot of information available, and it has several lenses it can be looked through in order to conclude with the best solution. It did require a lot of pre research in order to determine its validity, but when we finally evolved to the question we have today, it was definitely worth it. I think that we will have good research as a time and create a presentation that is scholar. At first, I had trouble with my lens but as I talked with my teammates I came to the conclusion that social can include the position of different social classes in the US.
Javier- I think that my team has a really good research question from which we will be able to obtain a lot of information since the topic we are researching is very important since it is affecting a lot of people in the United States. Our research questions has not evolved a lot, at the beginning we had various topics from which we could choose, but once we chose the topic of the disappearing middle class in the United States, we came up with a good research question, from which we will be able to research the most important aspects of it.
Our research question evolve drastically within time. At the beginning I was somewhat unsatisfied since I didn't feel comfortable with the topic itself. I had no prior knowledge regarding the secular govemrnt on Iran and the argument was unclear. As a result, we decide to change the topic completely. After researching several passible controversial issues we decided on "Why churches should not be tax exempt and should they remain in The United States?". The new research question is straight ford and simple. It clearly states an argument and as I research I discovered several reliable sources which provide evidence for my claim.
While establishing my research question in the previous semester, I didn't had the complete idea of what were the requirements on creating one. I just knew that it needed to be complex. On this semester's task, when we first gather to discuss the topic, we came up with one and established our research question. Later on, after checking if our research question included all the requirements for it to be a good one, we saw that it didn't. We tried to somehow make it better, but we couldn't quite do it since we didn't felt comfortable because it was kind of non-sense. This eventually led us to change the topic itself. We came up with the idea of discussing the pharmaceutical industry. We made some brief research and decided to establish the following research question: Why are the prices of the pharmaceutical industry in the United States globally disproportionate? Subsequently we checked if it was well developed and indeed it is. It is open and doesn't tracks you to a specific path. It gives us the chance to include lots of perspectives, backuped with reliable evidence to support our position.
To be honest, I preferred the Iran research question, but I have to give in to the desires of my team. Nonetheless, I really like the new research question, and I find it really interesting and with a lot of opportunities. Regardless, even though it has much to adress, it is suficiently concise for it not to be too broad. By adressing the church and religion, there are tons of arguments and events I can bring up with the historical lens. It is really a juice topic that has many angles that can be adressed and I'm hyped
Our topic was changed several times before we stayed with the one that we are doing right now. Our research question is not broad and it is specific to the church-government relationship only, including as well views from social perspectives. However I was not concerned when the topic was changed and my team left me with a lens that i'm not comfortable with. However, I'll do my best.
It was very difficult finding a topic to do because my teammates and I had no ideas about research questions. We first dove into the topic of the legalization of psylocibin mushrooms. After watching a video in class, we decided the research question we had was not categorized as a good research question so we decided to change. We then tried going not the topic of the electoral college in the US but decided to focus on the pharmaceutical industry. We are going to be researching the different factors that makes the industry so expensive. I'm going to be focusing on the ethical lens.
My research question was very hard to make because of the freedom of the idea. The making of a research question, especially this semester, is difficult because it has all of our AP exam grades hanging on it, so we know it has to be a good question. Although we settled on "Why are the prices in pharmacology in the United States disproportionate globally?", I think the question is lacking substance and it is too vague. The question also should just compare two countries, so I think we should change it to compare the United States to another socialized developed country, like Norway or Sweden.
Write a brief summary of each category expectations for IRR (Task #1) rubric. Please write an 8-rows reflection on the IRR (essays) you read (which one was a high, a medium or a low; what do you think about the topics; are they well written?; are the sources reliable and relevant enough?; what about conventions?).
Write a 10-row reflection on your own performance writing the IWA. What did you do well? if you had the opportunity to do it all over again, what would you do different? Identify your major challenges, etc.
