With this research I am planning to know which specific sports help long and short term memory. I am trying to educated the readers of my research and try to convince them on choosing one of the sports that I am stating for them to practice. I am planning on explaining exactly how the sport will change your memory and which part of the brain is going to change. I am eager to learn about the different sports and how the mind changes the way it works to adapt to the new movements.
After carefully creating and improving my research question I wish to find relevant as well as reliable resources related to my topic. I want to find information which doesn't only help me explain and fully comprehend my topic but also present an answer, determine if an individual's IQ does determine if someone is denoted as a genius or not. So far through google scholar as well as EBSCO not many resources regarding the issue have come to light. If no data is found I would probably have to change my research question.
ALEX A- The main objective I want to accomplish through my research is to find sources from EBSCO or Google Scholar that can constructively backup my research question. In the IRR, I lacked of relevant sources, since this 2 tools for retrieving information were difficult for me to work with. I couldn't completely understand the articles derived from my searching statement, and couldn't fully identify a specific text that could support my perspective. Instead, I researched normal articles, mostly published by journalists and used them for my essay. Now that my grade has been once affected, I will put more effort into comprehending and looking for sources that can be appropriate for the college board, in order to have practice for my future assignment that will be graded by the college board.
I started with different research questions that helped me come to the research question I have now: "What factors establish the differences between a female and a male brain?" I hope that my research supports that these differences have an impact in society today. In addition, I would like to learn about which are the differences and how these play a role in daily life. Since I have only found two sources that support my research question, I'm worried that I won't find enough and in consequence need to change my question.
Javier- With my research I would like to investigate how different brain exercises or tasks can help a person improve his/her intelligence, or if activities like these even help improve a person's intelligence. i hop to find that specific tasks and exercises actually do help improve your intelligence since I consider it is an important thing to know since it can benefit a person greatly. I hope to find reliable and good sources that will help me find an elaborate answer for my question, or to change it to make it better.
Modifying my research question helped me specialise on a certain topic that would be interesting to research about. I tried to focus on things that I could easily research and that would provide me with good information. I will be trying to determine which type of intelligence has affected the mental health of past geniuses. One article we read in the stimulus packet correlates geniuses with having mental health problems and I think this is an exciting thing to research about. Right now, I found some information in EBSCO that relates to mental health and creative geniuses. I hope I find further articles that will help me develop my argument.
With my research, I hope to achieve actual answers that satisfy the extent of my curiosity. I hope to effectively answer whatever research question I end choosing. But most importantly, I hope to affect everybody with my research and serve a good purpose in giving a helpful IWA that my classmate will be able to use in their every day lives. I hope for my presentation to be universal and helpful to anybody, not just geniuses or dancers, but everybody with a brain.
I started with a research question that did not had many sources to search about. However I changed it to a new one: Can a person with Asperger syndrome be considered a genius? I think that with this question my sources will be more and also reliable. I hope I can make a better argument this time and that my research question is responded clearly. Also I want to take the past assignment as a way to make things better in this one.
Write a brief summary of each category expectations for IRR (Task #1) rubric. Please write an 8-rows reflection on the IRR (essays) you read (which one was a high, a medium or a low; what do you think about the topics; are they well written?; are the sources reliable and relevant enough?; what about conventions?).
Write a 10-row reflection on your own performance writing the IWA. What did you do well? if you had the opportunity to do it all over again, what would you do different? Identify your major challenges, etc.
